Earlier this morning, lightning associated with weather in the area struck near Bennett C. Russell Elementary. Out of an abundance of caution, the fire department responded to assess the campus and ensure there were no safety concerns.

All students and staff are safe, and no issues were identified. 

We appreciate the quick response of our local first responders and thank families for their understanding.

For your convenience, our Department of Health nurses will be offering the Flu Mist vaccine here at our school on _10/26/2026___. Your student should have brought home consent forms and information in their beginning of the school year paperwork. The consent form, which includes a front and back page, must be completed and returned to the school by Tuesday, September 8, 2026, for your student to receive the Flu Mist vaccine on campus during our vaccine clinic. Please review this packet, complete both the front and the back of the consent form and return it to the school by 9/8/25 if you wish to take advantage of this convenient opportunity. This year, our health department will be administering the nasal Flu Mist vaccine to every age group of students. No student will receive a vaccine without a properly completed consent form.

Reminder to kindergarten parents: if your child is a bus rider, a parent with an ID must meet the bus to pick up your child. If there is no one to pick them up they will be returned back to the school!
